Are you discouraged by what you see in the world and in the church? Are you discouraged by your sin and guilt? If so, Pastor Mark Winder came to Adamsville this past Sunday evening Proclaiming Christ, and we were reminded that the Word of God comes when and where it's least expected, it came in the wilderness, in the midst of political oppression and religious corruption.
Luke 3 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, 2 during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness. 3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight.
5 Every valley shall be filled,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low,
and the crooked shall become straight,
and the rough places shall become level ways,
6 and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”
7 He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham. 9 Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
What does your hope hinge on? Are you in need of encouragement today? Here's the link to the Word that came to us this past Sunday, may it remind you of where to find your hope.
*hint, it's not in the governments of this world or in it's political leaders or in transforming the culture because if that's our hope, then we are truly hopeless:

This past Sunday evening was the last regularly scheduled monthly worship service that Pastor Mark Winder will be leading in Adamsville, but we look forward to having him come back to lead worship sometime in the future, Lord willing. In the mean time, you are more than welcome to join us for worship at Wolf River Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Collierville and to explore Christ and Christianity with us as we grow in our knowledge of and love for our Lord as we are still meeting for Bible study in Adamsville every Wednesday evening at 7 pm and every Sunday evening at 5 pm in the 1st Presbyterian Church building (328 Old Stage Rd). Please pray that the Lord would bless our Bible study, that it would grow into a true church. If you are looking for a good church home, we would like to be a good church home, and we are asking God to provide the increase (1 Corinthians 1:3-6).
We would love to have you join us, come as you are-
